Answering Insurance Questions After an Accident

Being in a car wreck is extremely stressful and can being very confusing for people.  Common feelings after being in a car accident are fear, anger, pain and worry.  People often wonder:

  • How will I pay for my medical bills?
  • I can’t work, how am I going to make it?
  • What if I can’t go back to my job?

All of these things are important to the person, but not as important to the insurance company.  You will likely be contacted by the insurance company after an accident and they may ask you to "answer a few questions", "to give a recorded statement" and/or to “sign a few forms”.  Anything you tell the insurance company can be used in the future so it is crucial to be careful when dealing with them.  Keeping a journal of facts to support the feelings and questions you are having can be very helpful when it comes time to give information to the insurance company.

When you are in a car wreck, it is important to consider the entire situation before giving them too much information.  Visit our article library to learn more about questions to ask the insurance company.
