Des Moines has proposed to add bicycle lanes to Ingersoll Avenue to give bike riders a share of the road and try to help reduce the number of accidents that have been happening recently. Some people do not agree with the bike lanes being added for fear that traffic may slow down and affect businesses, but also because the added lanes could mean no parking depending on the street the lanes are added to. Bike riders has been an ongoing controversy for a while now and cities are trying to accomodate them and provide safety to the bike riders. The right solution may be tough to find.
