
The Iowa Supreme Court has selected Iowa Injury attorney Corey J. L. Walker of Walker, Billingsley & Bair to serve on the Attorney Grievance Commission. As a grievance commissioner he will review complaints against attorneys, hear testimony and make decisions about whether or not the attorney violated the Iowa Rules of Ethics. If there has been a violation then the commissions makes a discipline recommendation to the Iowa Supreme Court. Discipline can vary from a private reprimand, public reprimand, suspension or disbarment.
Corey is a Newton, Iowa native and graduated from Newton High School in 1990. While in high school he played on the 1988 state runner-up and 1989 undefeated regular season football teams. He graduated from Drake Law School in 1997 and has practiced law in Newton ever since. Then in 2001, Corey opened a second location in Des Moines where he spends time every week. When asked about his appointment Corey said "it is a great honor to be selected by the Iowa Supreme Court to serve on the grievance commission. I have always been interested in our rules of ethics and work hard everyday to not only follow the rules, but to put forth extra effort to help Iowans who have been injured in car accidents, work injuries and other personal injury accidents. I am honored that the court has trust and confidence in me to help make some difficult decisions."
