Leveling the Field between Injured Iowans and Insurance Companies.

I grew up in a family where work ethic was valued above nearly everything else. My father was up before dawn and would come home from work each evening, just as my mother left for her job, and ask us kids, "What have you done to justify your existence today?" The question was not rhetorical, my dad wanted an answer, and each of us kids had to give him one. At 14, I began working part time at a local stable, mucking out stalls, and feeding the horses. From there, I held a number of part time jobs throughout high school and college, including driving a forklift at a home improvement store. I have learned to value the building blocks of any good employee: show up, work hard, and give as much effort to working for others as you would want for yourself. But work was not the only tenet my parents instilled in me. They taught each of us to value the solid, loving environment we grew up in, and as a result we needed to improve the world around us, not just live in it. Throughout my education, I volunteered regularly in programs which helped my community, including: feeding homeless families, working with peers who had mental and physical disabilities, teaching grammar school children, and fundraising for various community programs for children. A solid education was crucial to my goal of becoming an attorney. So on an academic scholarship, I graduated from Tulane University in beautiful New Orleans. I then attended Drake Law School, all the time working in a wide variety of fields. Since graduation, I have worked primarily in the field of Social Security Disability. I have represented numerous clients with disabling long term, and in some cases terminal, injuries and illnesses. I strive to remember the teachings of my parents, and provide my clients with the high-quality professional, personalized attention that I would expect from my own attorney.
