Why Would We Offer Injury Books at No Cost? For more than 24 years combined we (Corey and Erik) have been representing Iowans injured in car accidents, work injuries and other injury accidents. We have seen too many cases where Iowans made costly mistakes before learning about Iowa's injury laws. Their mistakes cost them thousands of dollars and sometime their entire case. Also, we believe that many legal disputes could be avoided if people knew more about the legal system, their rights and the laws that affect them. Finally, you can learn about Iowa Injury matters in the comfort of your own home with no cost, risk or obligation.
Also, we also wrote these books because our rules of ethics encourage us to educate the public. The preamble to Rule 32 provides:
As a public citizen, a lawyer should seek improvement of the law, access to the legal system, the administration of justice, and the quality of service rendered by the legal profession. As a member of a learned profession, a lawyer should cultivate knowledge of the law beyond its use for clients, employ that knowledge in reform of the law, and work to strengthen legal education. In addition, a lawyer should further the public's understanding of and confidence in the rule of law and the justice system because legal institutions in a constitutional democracy depend on popular participation and support to maintain their authority.
Frankly, this method of talking to you also saves us time. We have packed a ton of information into these books and it saves us the hours of time that it would take each day just to talk to all of the new potential clients who call. We cannot and will not accept every case and, frankly, each year we turn down good cases that simply do not meet our case selection criteria. So, rather than cut you short on the phone, writing these books gives us a chance to tell you what you need to know so that you can make an informed decision about what steps to take with your case. Even if we do not accept your case, we would like you to be educated about the process so that you don’t become an insurance company victim.
Most attorneys require you to make an appointment in which you would get some of the information that we have provided here. We believe that you should be able to have this information right now, and without any pressure. The hiring of an attorney to represent you is a very important step that should not be taken lightly. Our books should help you learn what to look for and what to avoid when hiring an attorney.
