A Des Moines police officer was working off duty when a large truck struck him causing life-threatening injuries. The truck driver and his company denied that they were at fault so a lawsuit had to be filed. After taking depositions it became clear that the truck driver was most likely going to be found at least partially negligent for his involvement. The insurance company for the trucking company decided that they wanted to try to settle the case and we set-up a mediation. After several hours at mediation, the insurance company agreed to pay what was fair value for the case in the amount of $400,000. While our client will continue to live with the effects of his injuries, he will have financial security for the future.
