A mechanic from Anamosa sustained a serious traumatic right shoulder injury while trying to loosen a bolt.  He sustained damage to his rotator cuff and labrum which required surgery.  The first surgery helped, but did not fix his ongoing shoulder pain and weakness.  A second surgery was recommended which he went through.  The second surgery did improve his shoulder condition, but he was no longer able to do most of the heavy work that his job required.  His employer was not able to accommodate his permanent work restrictions and he was forced to find a new less physically demanding line of work.  With some additional training, he should be able to find a parts job, service manager job or something similar in the automotive field.  His case was settled for $185,000 which will help him while he makes the transition.
