Nurse injured back while lifting a patient in Marshalltown, Iowa
A nurse from Marshalltown, Iowa contacted us when she hurt her back while lifting a patient. She had a prior non-work related back surgery but had made a full recovery from it. After her work injury, the doctor recommended that she have a back fusion surgery because her work injury aggravated her preexisting back condition. She had the surgery which helped, but also resulted in her needing permanent work restrictions to prevent additional injuries. Her employer was not able to accommodate her work restrictions, but she was able to obtain her full IPERS disability and we secured her a settlement of $175,000.
