A truck driver who had always been physically active and loved driving over the road hurt his back while delivering a load.  He had immediate pain in his back that went into his leg which was very scary for him.  He was able to get back into his truck and drive his load back to the terminal but was barely able to walk.  He consulted with several doctors who agreed that he had a permanent back injury, but unfortunately, there was no quick fix for his problems.  When surgery was ruled out, he tried pain management and other medical options.  Unfortunately, none of the treatments provided him with permanent pain relief, but at least he will be financially secure.  During a mediation we were able to settle his case for $415,000 and he also qualified for Social Security disability benefits which continue to provide him with a monthly income source.
