This is a follow up to our article entitled “Iowa Fata Car Accidents Down in 2009… So Far” in which it talks about Iowa having the lowest number of fatal accidents so far this year since world war two ended. This past weekend there were about 8 fatalities in Iowa during the Thanksgiving holiday period which is from Wednesday afternoon until Sunday night. Officials said this number could still climb if people who have suffered serious injuries end up passing away. However, this is a drop from the previous two years with 9 in 2008 and 16 in 2007. Iowa State Patrol says it is doing its best to determine the cause of the crashes and where they are happening. Doing this kind of investigation may help people know what to look out for when driving during the holiday. There are still two major holidays to get through this month, which means the number of fatal crashes could still increase.
