Iowa has several large trucking companies that hire workers from around the country.  Many of these trucking employers have policies that provide if you are hurt at work, regardless of where you live or where you were injured that your claim will be handled under Iowa workers' compensation laws.  Some of these companies like TMC Transportation of Des Moines, Heartland Express of North Liberty, Schuster of Le Mars, CRST of Cedar Rapids, Dohrn of Ankeny and Barr-Nunn of Granger will include the Iowa jurisdiction provision in your employee manual or new-hire documents that you may or may not sign.  Often, the first time an injured truck driver learns that they have an Iowa workers' compensation claim is when the insurance company or their employer tells them that the case will be handled under Iowa law.  The good news is that Iowa has very good temporary and permanent benefits available compared to other states.  The bad news is that, generally, your employer and/or their insurance company gets to choose the doctors you see for your work injury related medical care and treatment, subject to a few exceptions.

We know it is frustrating to learn your employer wants you to come back to Iowa for treatment and light duty work.  Keep in mind that under Iowa workers comp laws you may not have to come back to the state for treatment, depending upon the facts and circumstances in your case.  We provide injured workers with a no cost Iowa work injury evaluation.  Just call (641) 792-3595 and ask to speak with one of our Iowa workers' compensation attorneys.  If our lawyers are not immediately available then just ask to schedule a phone conference so we have a specific time and date to discuss your situation.  So whether you live in Texas, California or another state we can help you here in Iowa where we have 4 full-time offices including Des Moines, Ankeny, Marshalltown, and Newton with branch offices throughout the state including Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and many more.

We have successfully handled dozens of workers' compensation cases against trucking companies here in Iowa.  If we accept your case, we will represent you on what is called a contingency fee.  This means that you do not pay a retainer and we do not get paid unless we make a recovery for you.  Note, we do not charge you anything on the weekly benefits that you may currently be receiving.  Unlike some Iowa workman comp lawyers, we do not charge you anything on weekly benefits that you are paid voluntarily.  We cannot legally say we are the best Iowa workers' compensation lawyers, but just take a look at what our past clients have said (Testimonials on our webpage) along with our track record (Results on our webpage) to see if we are the right lawyers for you.
