How Much Does An Attorney Charge for an Injury Case?

Attorneys should charge reasonable fees based upon:

• The amount of time involved and the results obtained

• The novelty and difficulty of the questions involved and the skill required by the attorney to properly represent the client

• The desires and goals of the client

Walker, Billingsley & Bair has developed a revolutionary and progressive Injured Iowans First Fee Schedule™ for our injury clients.

While we believe that many insurance companies will not make their best offer until we hold their feet to the fire on the eve of trial, we understand that clients have different wants and needs from their injury claim.  If the attorney fees are less than the “standard fee”, then the client may be able to settle his or her case sooner and still end up with the same amount of money in his or her pocket instead of waiting a year or more for a trial.  While an insurance company may not be willing to pay top dollar early in the case, because the attorney is not charging the standard fee early in this case, the client may choose to accept a lower amount from the insurance company.

In fact, there are some cases where a percentage fee may not be the best choice.  For example, in a case with clear liability but limited insurance coverage, the client may want to pay an hourly fee to the attorney which may save the client thousands of dollars in the process! This is why we developed the Injured Iowans First Fee Schedule™
