So how do you find a qualified personal injury attorney? First of all, Iowa attorney advertising rules currently allow any attorney to say they are a personal injury attorney, even if they've never handled a single case. So you will have to do some research to find out if the attorney you are considering has actual experience with Iowa personal injury cases. In my opinion, the Iowa personal injury system is far too complicated for a general practice attorney, criminal law or family law attorney who only handles a few injury cases per year. If the attorney does not focus on personal injury, and does not stay current on the changing laws, then the attorney could make a mistake in your case, a mistake which could cost you thousands of dollars. Here are a few tips when looking for a qualified personal injury attorney. Number one What do other attorneys and past clients have to say about the attorney, you can go to www.Avvo.com, which is an independent attorney rating site that allows other attorneys and clients to post your experiences with the attorney. Number two, while you or your family are on average calm, look to see what the attorneys avvo rating is. The ratings are on a scale of one to 10 and range from average to superb. Number three, what kind of results has the attorney obtain for prior clients? You should be able to find this kind of information on the attorneys webpage and or in written materials they offer to potential clients. Number four, has the attorney written a book, record a CD or produced a video like the one you're watching about Iowa personal injuries to help teach Iowans about the system. These are a few things to look for when you're finding the best personal injury attorney for you and your case.
